Willys parts on a modern Jeep?
I love the old willys jeeps,but as of now I can't really afford one.The reason is twofold. One,I love the look of them,and two,the spartan-esque design. Modern jeeps have the second part down somewhat,so how difficult would it be to retrofit a modern Jeep with Willys body parts and interior ? It seems like it would mostly be a matter of simply refitting the parts to conform to the modern Jeep's shape.
This is all in my head right now,but if I do go through with it,the base will most likely be a Wrangler.
The Wheelbase struck me as the glaringly obvious problem. The Willy's body has very basic shapes,so I would think it would be fairly simple to modfiy it to be longer,especially since the side is essentially a flat panel.
try taking a frame from a newer jeep and putting the tub of a Willy's on it..the wheelbase is going to be an issues, what like with any jeep you'll just have to modify it. Sorry i couldn't be of much help other than one suggestion..but if you get the chance to do this project i'd love to see the outcome.
