How do you change a 2 wheel drive truck to 4 wheel drive?

I would like to know a few specific things about it. For example: Is it as easy as changing the front end and trans? Or is it more complicated than that? Does anyone know where I can get step by step instructions? Or has anyone done this before and knows exactly what to do? By the way it is on a 1994 Ford F-150. It has the 5.0 engine. But it is 2 wheel drive and for this winter and to make the truck a little more fun this summer I'd like to make it 4 wheel drive.

As other readers suggested it would be easier to get a loaner truck to get all the parts needed to do this conversion.

But most likely you'll need to swap out both front and rear axles. The reason I say this is because you'll need to utilize the same gear ratios in both axles.

Then you'll need the transmission, transfer case, and drive shafts. It would be easier just to get a 4 wheel drive.
