What is the correct a/c system pressure for an 88 Ford Club Wagon Van?
My husband had to replace the a/c compressor on the van. He was re-charging the system, and after one lg can of r-134a the pressure read 45 on the gauge. The instructions warned not to add more, but the a/c is not very cold. It is working now, but not cold. What is the correct pressure for this model? It has a 5.0L engine with rear a/c.
Well, thats a broad subject. Not knowing how much he knows, I have a few questions but don't get offended if they sound stupid...ok?.
First of all, did he replace the accumulator and orifice as well?......Did he evacuate (vacuum out the air & moisture in the system) the system before charging the a/c system? Why was the compressor replaced?......Was it locked up or was it the source of a leak? A good rule of thumb is to replace the accumulator & orifice(or at least check the orifice for debris) whenever a "hard part" like a compressor is replaced.
If your hubby didn't do all the things mentioned, its a crap shoot if it'll cool at all.
Good Luck
