How old of a volkswagon beetle can I get that looks antique but still has airbags?

I would like an antique VW Beetle but my mother is concerned that if I get an antique then they won't be safe, any help? Also- is there a way to install airbags in an older car?

And yes, you can install airbags in a classic car.

You cannot do it your self. It is a lot of work. Could cost up to $2000 with airbags.
