Turbo Wagon
1990 Volvo 740 turbo wagon with 120K miles shifts late & hard?
Folks, I have a 1990 Volvo 740 turbo wagon with 120K miles on it. The car runs great but has recently started shifting at much higher than normal RPM's, and shifts hard (probably because it is shifting at such high RPM's ? ). Does anyone know what could be causing this ?? Is it adjustable ? Repairable without major effort ?
It could be caused by a bad tps sensor. The sensor is used by the transmission to determine if you are accellerating or decelerating. If it is not working properly the transmission shifts when the pressure limit is reached, causing a hard shift.
OR it could have a plugged filter and dirty fluid.
