Is there a limited timeline for DNA to survive?
A lecture on fossil forests in the Arctic tundra had a question at end of lecture about DNA (at 1 hour into video). The reply was that DNA analysis was unsuccessful because it was not stable and doesn't last that long. I was wondering if there is a record of how long it does last, that is, what might be the oldest specimen still extant.

Conversely, on its own, DNA begins to disassemble within about 5 minutes, which is why the "Frankenstein" monster was never really possible.
