Does the Canon SD750 camera have manual exposure controls?
I am thinking of taking a digital photography college course and one of the requirements for the camera is that it must have manual exposure controls. Would my camera satisfy this requirement?
No. The Canon SD series does not have manual exposure controls.
The Canon A-series cameras do have manual exposure controls, but they are very hard to access because they must be done through the menu. Also, the small sensor tends to wipe out any sort of depth of field effects, because everything tends to be in focus.
Your least expensive option is to get a 35mm film camera, but you'll end up paying for the development of the film and won't have the benefit of instant feedback like with a digital.
The next choice: a used digital SLR. I would recommend the Nikon D50 for a used digital SLR. An absolutely fantastic camera that can take just about any Nikon autofocus lens ever made. If you're lucky, you'll be able to find one for $350 with a lens. However, it holds its value, so they often sell as much as or more than a new Nikon D40. Honestly, I'd rather have a D50 than a D40, just for the lens compatibility.
Above that, get a new Nikon D40. It's around $475 with a lens.
