How to attach rear speakers to the inside roof of my suv?
I have a pair of 6x9's in speaker boxes that I want to attach to the inside roof of my Isuzu Trooper, I dont want them on the floor anymore and I dont want to put them into the sides of the truck.I thought it would be cool to hang them from the roof facing forward, because I would get great loud sound and it would save me space plus look good.....How do I go about getting them up there? Do I attach them with some kind of velcro or do I need to drill some kind of shaft into the speaker boxes and find a way to mount them into the roof? Any idea's would be helpfull........thx
You can't just drill/screw through the roof of the vehicle as you will come right out the roof.
You will need to lower the headliner to see where structure tubes are in the roof. Normally about 1" square shaft running length of the roof. Use short metal screws, drill/screw into these shafts.
You will need to remove the speakers, drill holes in the speaker box tops and then from inside the speaker box, screw it into the support bar in the roof.
Just make sure you measure the depth of the wood on the boxes, then give yourself no more than the distance inside the support for the total screw length. Hate to see them poke through the roof.
You should then be able to also tuck the wires into the headliner and down the sides so they are not hanging and to give it a cleaner look.
