Sport Auto
Auto Racing = Sport?
Is auto racing, NASCAR specifically, really a sport?
I maintain my position that a sport by simplest definition is a form of athletic activity. Though many NASCAR drivers are athletic and are therefore athletes, the driver's level of athleticism has no direct outcome on wether or not they win the race. Convince me otherwise.
Look, what would convince YOU, probably, is actually driving a race car, which has NOTHING 'automatic' about it, for four, five, or even six hours without a break...look, everything you do in a NASCAR race car takes not only mental but PHYSICAL endurance, you have to literally fight to keep an 700+ hp powered, fast, heavy monster of a race car on the track, away from the wall, and try not to take out other drivers and knock yourself out of contention to win the race...and there's 42 other drivers that are gunning for the win, and God help you if you're not tough enough to literally wrestle with the steering wheel to keep you from crashing and possibly causing 'The Big One'...Let's see you step up and do it.
