Reconstructed Title
What are the negatives of buying a used car with a reconstructed title ?
It is a repo car
It depends.
If the car has ever been registered in a flood area, it could be flood damaged.
If it's a newer car, it takes a lot of damage to total a car, which means it takes a lot of damage to get that salvage title. Usually this means it won't be quite right ever again, or it might be unsafe.
If it's an older car, it might not be a problem. On a thousand-dollar car, ANY accident will total it. The damage doesn't have to be structurally significant, and if someone fixes it with junkyard parts, it's still just fine.
You might have trouble financing such a car, and you might not be able to get full coverage for it. Other than that, assuming the damage wasn't severe, and it was fixed right, there are no negatives.
That is a HUGE if, though. Don't even CONSIDER the car if not. And if you don't know for sure, if the story you're told isn't believable, if it doesn't seem likely? Then just assume you're being lied to and forget it.
