Radar Detector
what do the letters represent on a radar detector?
i have a radar detector with the letters: X, K, KA, and V
what do those mean? like, i know that K and KA have something to do with the police, but what do they represent exactly? one's radar gun, the other is Radio?
It has to do with the frequency band of the radar. In the old days, they only had X band, which was in the range of around 10 GHz. But it had lots of resolution problems.
Later came K band, which is in the microwave range of frequencies ranging between 18 and 27 GHz.
Ku refers to K under which is the band just below K, and Ka refers to K above, which is the frequency band just above K.
V band takes it up another notch in the 40 - 75 GHz range.
