Trouble with Need for Speed Prostreet on PS2?

Hey all,
I just bought Pro Street NEW from target for my PS2 using my hard earned cash. I pop it into my 3 month old Ps2 slim which is still in mint condition. Much to my dismay the game wouldn't load. In other words the little spinning disc would dissappear after a second. It did not say cannot read disc. I tried and tried but it would not work. I unplugged the PS2 to reset the power adapter and tried again. It loaded this time and the whom sound with the sign the reads Playstation 2 showed. But then it stopped. It stayed black and one time it came to the main screen for Pro Street, after about five minutes of the black screen that is. I can play all of my other games no problem, even pretty scratched ones. Previously I had trouble with Carbon where midrace I would hit a End of the World type rift where it would feeze for about five seconds, before continuing on. It also skipped around during cut scenes in Carbon. All of my other games play perfect. Please help!!

there might be a defect with the disc i would return it and get a new 1 tell them it doesnt work i know they will exchange it for another
