Premium Heated
2009 WRX Premium or 2009 WRX STI?
Well I have a decision to make. It's to either get the 2009 WRX Premium, or to get the 2009 WRX STI.
I know I know, the Premium is more luxury-oriented and the STI is more performance oriented, but I want to hear people's bias. The STI is 7k more dollars but has things like the stronger six-speed transmission, SI drive, Brembo brakes, HID's, etc.
Whereas the WRX has a moonroof, heated seats, and has most of the same features as the STI besides the performance parts.
Just please feed me your bias and feel free to sound one-sided =)
I'm not looking for the perfect answer, just many answers that are all reasons to pick either side.
The issue isn't that the WRX doesn't have the potential, it's that the potential might cost more to unleash than it would to just buy the STI.
You forgot to mention the near-invincible 6 speed transmission against the WRX's flimsy 5 speed.
Here you are, strait from the dealership pamphlet.... The wrx comes with a bigger turbo (sti turbo in a legacy housing) in 2009, it has sti spring, injectors and fuel pump (no need to upgrade). The wrx has just as much potential seeing as the only difference engine wise is the davc on the sti and the wrx has regular avc. Also from what the dealership says the 5 speed was redesigned in 2007 for the 2008 year to be slightly stronger. You want the kicker? the wrx in 2009 only runs .1 slower in the quarter mile than the sti. The sti is a better car to start with but the wrx has huge potential as well. My 2008 with the tiny td04 turbo makes just under 300hp and 370lbft at the fly.
