Perfect Condition
Why do guitars and amps in perfect mint condition sell for so cheap on Ebay?
I have a mesa boogie stiletto head I bought in early 2005 in perfect condition and was thinking about selling it on ebay. I bought it for $1,600.00. The highest I have seen one of these amps in mint condition go for is about $1,000. Is this market not popular on ebay or what?
Well, I didn't get ripped off. I payed retail at guitar center. It was just the price you had to buy it if you wanted it new from the store with warranty.
Many sellers use eBay as a garage sale and are happy to get whatever they can for an item. Many buyers are looking for a bargain. They know the can pay $1600 for a new one at Guitar Center with a warranty, but they would rather pay $1000 for a slightly used one without it.
As for selling your amp – you have to figure out what is worth to you or how bad you need the money. If you feel you cannot take a $600 hit on it, than keep it…if you need to unload it for cash…well you might have to.
