Owner Gorgeous
I want to know what how responsible Rottweiler owners train their dog, and keep their dog sociable.?
I am adopting a gorgeous 1 year old submissive female Rottweiler. Lucky for me her foster parent has already taught her basic obedience. But I still want to get the point of view of others, on training and caring for such a big powerful dog. I would like to hear from other responsible dog owners.
Rottweilers are GREAT dogs but they are not for everyone. Some of my greatest dogs were Rotties. I grew up with them and they taught me a great deal. They need a stronger, dedicated owner. They are a working dog so they do require exercise and something to keep their minds busy. I use to put doggie packs on them when I walked them. I put their water bottles in the packs and their bowls. The pacls were not heavy but it gave the dogs that little extra. I always walked them at least twice a day, and practice obedience work with them every day. It is very important that you stay in controi and are a very strong, assertive leader. Rotties are one of the breeds that will take the leader role if they are allowed to do so.
Socializing is also very important. Actually when i had Rotties that was when I started my doggies gatherings which I still have today. In the group we currently have a total of 5 Rottweilers. We just gather every week or two and let all of our dogs socialize and play. It is fun and a great socialization tool for the dogs. I know two of the Rottweiler owners have their dogs in agility classes to give their dogs that discipline and mental exercise.
Dog agility classes are great for breed like Rottweilers not tot mention it is good for the onwer and the owner dog relationship. In doign things like that you accomplish many things at once.
But if you give your Rottweiler the proper care you will get the best dog ever. They are gret family dogs, they are highly intelligent, extremely dedicated and versatile.
