Owner Automatic
Advice for a first time semi-automatic owner?
Ive had revolvers for my entire life, but i need a weapon for concealed carry(yes i do have a ccw), I'm looking at the soon-to-be-released ruger .380 LCP.
What advice can you give to someone who has never owned a semi-auto before?
I'm located in Arizona.
The only caliber preference i have is that i have no interest in .22 , .25 or .32 i just don't believe that have what i'm looking for.
I'm looking for a sub-compact "pocket carry" pistol
If you give advice about a make/model please include price info and a link to its website
I have two guns I tend to carry concealed. I am fond of my old S&W J-frame 940. A five shot 9mm revolver that Smith does not make anymore. This is my "warm weather pocket gun"; I carry it when it is just too warm to wear a long shirt or jacket. On cooler days I carry a Taurus 145 in a Inside The Waistband holster or a high ride belt slide. This is a sub compact .45 auto. They also make this in .380. I particularly like this gun because it does have a manual safety. It is a striker fired gun, meaning no hammer. The trigger is long with a quick release at the end of the pull. Took some getting used to. Dry fire before you load it to get acquainted with the trigger. I have found this gun to be accurate, reliable, and actually fun to shoot.
AZ has some fine concealed carry schools. Take some training, it will be worth it.
