Orange Automatic

I have an orange warning light on in my 1998 (s) peugeot 306, description here of orange warning light here...

It is lit up in orange with what I presume to be a picture of an engine with a letter K inside it, one lef of the K has an arrow on it, the light is postitioned above the airbag light???

The light goes off however when i went over 70mph on the motorway the light came on and it lost alot of power?

It is an automatic and the gear changes are very slugish around town now, however the light remains off, i was told to discounect the battery which i did and it was fine, however after abit of driving the same this happened again?

Please can someone with abit of experience help me???

There is a problem with your engine management system. You will need to take your car to a Peugeot garage so they can plug their PC in and see whats wrong. I would recommend you do it sooner rather than later.. My sister left it later and needed a new engine
