Can i fix my salvage motorcycle in CA and ride it on the streets ?

My motorcycle(2009 r6) was declared totaled by the insurance company. the body shop where it was told me that they can fix it for $3500 to $4000 dollars max. but the insurance company told me that once they call it totaled they will kill the vin number and i will not be able to ride that motorcycle in the streets anymore. Is the insurance company right? or did they lie? Can i go to the DMV and just get the revived salvage title and put it back to work in the streets ?

I would say you have a problem, you need to check with the dmv, because if you put four grand into something you can not ride, its worthless, so instead of that, replace the bike with the insurance money, and let them have the wreck.
