Good Deal For a New 2009 BMW 328xi Sedan?
Im about to Lease a new 2009 BMW 328xi Sedan. Its Montego Blue with oyster and black leather on dark burl walnut trim. It has the premium package, Cold Weather package, navigation system, heated steering wheel, and ipod/usb adapter. and of course AWD with steptronic auto trans. the total is around 43k. I'm planning on a 36 month lease with 7k outta-pocket (down). the total due at signing is gonna be 10k( which includes all the other crap plus down payment). With this the monthly payment is $343. i wanted to know if this is a good deal or not? i really wanted the 335xi but i cant afford it especially if i want the same exact packages. I think im getting a really good deal, right?
Honda's and Toyota's are great cars in their own right. Let's get that out of the way, but lets look side by side and compare the deal. First of all you are putting way too much money down on a lease..That's 7K lost should the car get stolen..You're betting off stretching that via a higher monthyl payment and a lot less out of pocket.. Secondly, you're leasing an AWD sedan while there isn't an alternative with Honda or Toyota in the US yet. Additionally, you're getting all maintenance free, inclusive of brake pads, rotors, oil changes for the life of the lease -- which adds another operating expense that Honda or Toyota normally charges. If you were to compare apples to apples to any fully loaded alternative in Honda or Toyota, there wouldn't be a comparison. That's primarily because BMW leases are done as a 40/60 split while others are 50/50 splits. But ask yourself, doesn't it make much more sense to lease 40% of the car as opposed to 50% ? You're leasing because you really don't want to purchase the car anyway..
It all depends on your objectives and your financial requirements, but first thing first, don't put that much down on a lease -- it's throwing money away..But pound for pound, that's a great car, albeit small cabin space...
