What kind of ammunition does a Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Special take?
This is one of the ORIGINAL rifles manufactured. I've checked on the site and it only lists reproduction models, which do not take the same type of ammo as my rifle.
I just checked by the chamber, it says .38 W.C.F., so it takes .38 caliber rounds. Thanks!
Take a close look at the barrel up near the receiver. The calibre should be stamped there. If you can't find it or it is worn off take it to a gunsmith. He can tell you for sure and a rifle this age should have a 'smith check it for safety anyway. As the answerer states above, there are just too many possibilities to guess.
