Mercedes Clk
Anyone know how to remove the trunk lining on a Mercedes CLK-500?
My third brake light fell out and I need to remove the upper trunk lining (the lining attached to the part the pops up) to get to it. Has anyone done this?
If you look at the lining, you'll see a bunch of plastic "buttons" all the way around. Usually they are black, round, the size of a dime and spaced about 12 inches apart. They are actually pins holding the liner in place. You'll need to pull them out, but they will be damaged as a result. They are not designed to be reused. You might be lucky to save several, but usually they need to be replaced. You'll need a new set to put the lining back in place. You just push them in when you reinstall the lining.
Some large auto parts store might have them. If not, go to a Mercedes dealer (to their parts department) and buy them. Bring one to show them what you need. They are cheap.
If you do not see the buttons, they are hidden inside the lining, but work the same way. Just pull the lining at the edges and they will pop out.
