Malibu Convertible
Is this a decent Mustang?
I'm looking at a 2003 Mustang GT Convertible. It's a one owner, never been in an accident, or had any problems. It has less than 25,000 original miles, and everything has been professionally cared for. The dealer is asking $13,995. Does this sound like a good deal?
I don't want any answers about insurance being too high, because it's not going to be that bad for a mustang and the car I have right now, and the gas mileage isn't much lower than my V6 Malibu, so no need for those answers.
I prefer just answers based on my question.
I would do your own homework, and make sure he pulls up the carfax in front of you. Check that over carefully it should tell you when it was registered and how many miles etc were registered on it. If it all checked out then move on to checking out the car. Find out if theres a warranty from the dealer and test drive the shit out of it. Take it on the highway make sure everything is nice and tight, alot of times dealers get a decent car just sparkle it up and dont check them fully to make sure everything is ok and after you leave the lot lemon law or not its just a hassle to get anything fixed or out of them. Anything needing attention take care of it before you pay for it.
Secondly check out other cars like that on craigslist just for a comparison. Kelly blue book value can be off especially with the economy and other factors etc, and you never want to pay kelly blue book retail, always wholesale. Thats a good starting point and go up from there, but dealers usually dont show you that number they say look at the retail im giving it to you for less. If you are financing through the dealer they have you a little bit unless you can get your own finaincing....
