Liberty Renegade
Jeep Enthusiasts... I am looking to purchase a Jeep Liberty (used). Should I get Renegade, Limited, or Sport?
I know Sport is the basic edition, but is the Renegade or Limited really worth the extra money? Also, what are the main differences between the model types of these Liberty's? I don't plan to do much off roading, but I will be towing a boat and additionally driving in bad winter conditions.
Thanks much!
The Limited is just a fancier version of the sport, usually with leather seats and extra power goodies. The renegade is supposed to be an offroader's version, but honestly it's more of a showboat. It has cheap offroad lights on the roof and "tough-looking" trim.
As an owner of a Renegade, I'd go for the sport if I had to do it again. If you will offroad, you can do a better job upgrading a sport than starting off with a Renegade. Cheaper that way too. And if you won't go offroad, what's wrong with the sport?
I've towed about 4500 pounds with my Liberty, and it did very well. It's actually one of the most comfortable vehicles I've ever used to tow an RV.
Edit: My Liberty's a 2002 and I never had a problem with it until one incompetent shadtree mechanic screwed up the brakes (around 80k miles). Had to take it to another shop and get them straightened out. Moral of the story: they're good cars if you make sure not to trust everyone who says they'll "cut you a deal."
