How to launch a car off the line (automatic trans)?

I have a used 2002 Grand Prix GTP, and I was wondering what is the best way to launch off the line at a green light on the streets to gain the quickest acceleration?

well, I think just floor it and stay on the gas not allowing the automatic transmission to change gears right away.
