Which is doing better financially, Walmart or Target?
Do you predict that Walmart will go out of business any time soon? And do you like Walmart or Target better ? And why ?
Walmart seems more family oriented and worse service, less clean and not as organized and Target exceeds in most areas, and is more modern and a little more fun and excitement oriented ?
Financially, Wal-Mart has been a better performer than Target recently. When the economy starts improving, Target will narrow the gap.
Although there is a great deal of overlap, Target is going for a slightly more upscale customer base than Wal-Mart, which would be to Target's advantage in good times and Wal-Mart's advantage in bad times. In comparing the amenities of the stores, don't forget the slight difference in clientele -- and, of course, the bottom line results are what's most important.
Disclosure: I currently have a small stock position in Wal-Mart and none in Target.
