Doors Leather
What is the best way to get strong cigarette smell out of a car?
We just purchased a used vehicle that has such a strong cigarette smell that I feel I've been in a smoky bar after sitting in it for only a few minutes. We've sprayed Febreze and carpet freshener inside, and now it smells like air freshener and cigarettes. I'm ready to start cleaning the surfaces now (dash, doors, leather seats) and plan to use my steam cleaner on the carpets and ceiling. Any other suggestions for areas to hit really well, and for products to use?
Professional cleaning people used to come to our dealership for just that purpose. I have found that if you spread some newspaper over an area of carpeting and pour a good amount of fresh coffee, say 1/2 of a can, ground, and allow it to stay there with the windows closed, for 8 to 12 hours, the odor will be gone. Coffee absorbs odors, besides you do like the small of fresh coffee, rather than cigarette smoke?
It really does work.
