To stop things from getting worse, you need to get some fabric protectant.
Take a look at 303 products. They are often used in marine care where boat's vinyl or fabric parts are out on the water/sun all day long.

This is also the product that Sunbrella and others recommends (fabric manufacturers for many outdoor applications).
You will either need 303 aerospace protectant or the fabric guard, depending if your top is vinyl or fabric.

You may find 303 products more frequently at a boat/marine supply store rather then auto store. (or online).
I'm not sure if you can do anything to get the color back to what it was like before the fade. Perhaps if you use the convertible top cleaning product, you can lift away dirt and water stains that looks like fade.
