Clean Certified
What other car makes and models can I use and where might I find one with a clean car title?
I have a car title with a lien on it but the state of Tennessee won't let me register it in my name. I 've tried sending a certified letter to last on but I don't know what else to do. I need instructions on what to do and direction on which way I should go about doing this.
Where did you get the vehicle? If you purchased it from the last registered owner, try to contact the bank that holds the lien. It could be that the car is paid off, and the seller forgot or lost the lien release paperwork. If no money is owed on the vehicle, the lien holder can give you a release. All you need is something from them on their letterhead saying basically:
To whom it may concern,
We no longer have a security interest in the following vehicle
Year - make= model- V.I.N
Signed
Person signings capacity (i.e. tile clerk)
If there is still money owed on the vehicle, and the seller did not disclose that to you, he has committed fraud. Consult a lawyer.
