Would You Help me with a certfied -as much as possible- free site in the filed of renting oil and gas rigs?
i am doing a research about oil and gas rigs rent rates but i can't find a detailed site about that....!
I worked in the oilfield for 25 years up to 2 years ago, and I know the rig prices were skyrocketing back then.
I don't know how much you know about the oilfield but I will give you a short explanation how it works.
Chevron plans to drill ten new well ten miles offshore from Grand Isle Louisiana. Since the water is only about 40 feet deep the will need only a small jack-up rig. They either have a contract with a drilling company or the will take bids. This is usually in dollars/day. I would guess this would be about 40,000 dollars a day.
The rigzone site will give you some good overall info on the world oil industry. It requires a free registration.
The Oildrum site is a general site, but you might be able to post your question on their message board.
The API site is the oil industries lobbying and information group. I have a feeling if you contact them you might be able to get a general idea of the rig costs of today. At least a pretty good idea.
