What tree will be ok close to the house for a small raised bed?
I have a small raised bed at the front of the house that is 14x7 and about 8" high. What type of tree will be ok there but will not interfere with the foundation bricks or landscape stones? I live in VA with hardy zone 7. This will be planted in a mix of clay, topsoil, and compost. Most of the sun it receives will be in the late morning to mid-day, so a mix of full to partial shade.
A japanese maple may work if you can move it out 10' from the house. They are very slow growing and never get too big. See the link for the Crimson Queen, a good choice for your situation.
