What is the large shudder that I get when my Auto Trans Mercury Mountaineer changes gears?

The shudder seems to be largest starting from the back of the vehicle. It also seems to happen when the automatic transmission is changing from 2nd to 3rd. It is also more pronounced when you are accelerating slowly.

if you had the transmission fluid changed recently, I'll be tthey put the wrong fluid in. the mountaineer's need Mercon V, which is a semi-synthetic blend tranny fluid. You can buy addtives to put in to make fluid into Mercon V, and they do work.
